What are the sampling rates for the different sensors being used on EmotiBit?
EmotiBit is open source and gives the user complete control over every aspect of data acquisition, including sampling rate. For the stock sampling rates, check out the “Tech specs” section of our Kickstarter page and our documentation on github https://github.com/EmotiBit/EmotiBit_Docs/blob/master/Working_with_emotibit_data.md#emotibit-sensor-sampling-rates

Is the hardware open-sourced?
Our hardware schematics are open and available under the creative commons license. We believe that it is important to have complete transparency between the device and the user. Making the schematic available to all is a key step in making sure we steer away from any black box models in the scientific community.

Can EmotiBit data be combined with other signals/data such as audio or video?
Yes, Once the data has been streamed from the EmotiBit onto your system, the possibilities are limitless. The data can be streamed off EmotiBit using WiFi and we further provide the ability to forward it to another device using OSC. We have already worked on a project with art-a-hack, where emotibit was used in combination with a dance performance. Check it out here! https://artahack.io/blog/announcing-teams-special-edition-dancedemic/

Is it compatible with future Apple chipsets?
Yes. Since the development environment is all open source and we have built it on existing tools (Arduino + openframeworks), as long as those are supported for the next-gen mac chipsets, the development for EmotiBit will be unaffected.

What tools are used in EmotiBit Software development?
“The FW is entirely based on Arduino IDE(which is cross-platform), So the development environment is the same on Linux as on windows or mac. If you are familiar with Arduino, it should be pretty straightforward. The EmotiBit software is built on Openframeworks(https://openframeworks.cc/download/), which is also supported across platforms. We share the EmotiBit software as precompiled binaries for windows and mac. For Linux, we ask the users to compile from source and are in the process of changing that workflow to deploy using binaries as well. All development tools are open sources!

Why is the delivery time 10 months away?
The delivery time is taking into account the state of the IC market around the world because of the Covid pandemic. It has become very hard to source parts and ICs for large manufacturing runs because the supply chains have been massively interrupted. You can read more about it in the “Risks and Challenges” section on our project page. If you are interested in EmotiBit and would like an EmotiBit ASAP, you can select the EmotiBit Beta Bundle in the Kickstarter rewards section on our project page.

What is the difference between Basic and research-grade EmotiKit?
We offer 2 types of EmotiKits to be purchased along with the EmotiBit. Both, the Basic and Research-grade EmotiKit contain an Adafruit Feather, a high-speed SD-Card, and a 400mAh battery - the essentials for working with an EmotiBit. The difference between the 2 Kits is that, with the research-grade kit, we calibrate the Adafruit Feather to improve the ADC(Analog to digital converter) on the Feather. We use high-precision circuitry to correct for the inherent inaccuracies, which vary from feather to feather. The calibration only improves the ADC, and is recommended if you want more accurate EDA(Electrodermal Activity) measurements.

Do I need a research-grade EmotiKit?
The Research-grade EmotiKit gives the user a calibrated Adafruit Feather. The calibration corrects the inherent error in the ADC(Analog to Digital Converter) on the Feather which results in more accurate EDA(Electrodermal Activity) measurements. If your project depends on very accurate EDA data, we recommend you purchase the Research-grade EmotiKit addon.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
